Hydrosols

The steam distillation of aromatic plants yields two different products: essential oils (the lighter oils that float on top) and hydrosols (the water that sinks to the bottom). The fragrance of hydrosols is similar to that of essential oils produced from the same plants, but less concentrated. If you wish to make mists, lotions, bath bombs, face masks, or even shampoos, think of hydrosols.
