Emulsifiers are used…

To make creams and lotions! Since oil and water don’t mix, these cosmetics need emulsifiers to keep them together. In mayonnaise, for example, the emulsifier is the egg yolk that keeps the oil and vinegar together!

For beginners, we suggest our 100% vegetable-sourced emulsifying wax or polawax.

Waxes are used…

In addition to making candles, waxes can act as emulsifiers or co-emulsifiers. They are soluble in oil and can be used to thicken creams, solidify balms, and in recipes for lipsticks, eyeliners, and more.

Gums are used...

As gelling agents! Many gums are co-emulsifiers that can help to stabilize creams and lotions.

Large or small?

As with fruit and wine, the colour, fragrance, and flavour of natural cosmetic ingredients can vary depending on a number of factors. Olive oil can be mild or full-bodied, light or dark green, for example, and that’s true for many natural products. We suggest you begin by trying our smallest sizes.
